Which couriers deliver on Saturdays

As we all know, the various parcel shipments (also with regard to international shipments) rely on the expertise, experience and availability of the many express courier companies for the delivery of the parcels that are sent and ordered on a daily basis. Many of these couriers offer this service also during the weekend, more specifically during the day on Saturday.

It should be noted, however, that this service was introduced solely in response to requests from certain customers who prefer deliveries at the weekend, when they tend to be at home as it coincides with their days off work. 

As we mentioned in the introduction to this article, the weekend is also a time when many people set aside time to enjoy the outdoors, planning day trips, holidays or social gatherings with family or friends: for this reason, Saturday delivery should only be requested if you are absolutely certain that you will be at home at the time of delivery. 

In fact, it is not uncommon for many customers, even though they know they have scheduled a delivery, to be unavailable or unable to accept the delivery when the courier rings the doorbell: you will appreciate that this, as well as being a waste of effort, also makes it difficult to reschedule that same delivery.

Perhaps also for this reason, some express couriers have decided to do not make deliveries even on Saturdays. These couriers are as follows:

• the BRT courier (or Bartolini) does not deliver parcels on Saturdays or Sundays;
• Nexive Courier also does not deliver on Saturdays or Sundays;
• lastly, TNT courier does not deliver on Saturdays or Sundays either.

Having said all this, let us now answer the question implied in the title of this paragraph: what are the couriers who deliver on Saturdays? Here is a list of them, with useful information for this type of delivery.

• The DHL courier delivers on Saturdays (not Sundays) and makes deliveries by appointment, at an additional charge and until around 1 p.m.
• The GLS courier delivery on Saturdays, but this service is only available in certain locations, which number around 500 and are indicated on this courier's website.
• Also the UPS courier guarantees the Saturday delivery service, but only when the latter is purchased separately.
• The SDA courier offers the option of Saturday delivery, but only in certain cities and provinces (which are always specified within the site of this courier).
• Finally, also the Italian Post Office guarantees delivery on Saturdays, but only in the morning.

Who delivers on Sundays? Only Amazon (and here’s why)

The only company that delivers regularly on Sundays and public holidays in Italy is Amazon Logistics, Amazon’s own delivery service, with deliveries from 8 am to 9 pm every day.

What these users don’t realise, however, is that Amazon can afford to do all this. Why? Because these deliveries relate to Amazon orders for Prime customers only — This service is included in your subscription and is made possible by Amazon’s own logistics network. No traditional courier (DHL, GLS, UPS, SDA, BRT) offers Sunday deliveries for standard parcels.

Furthermore, Amazon does not entrust its deliveries to any of the couriers mentioned above, but uses its official courier, the so-called Amazon Logistics. As mentioned, Amazon is a colossus that can count on the availability of a huge warehouse, which manages to mediate the buyer's demands with the seller's capacities: this makes Amazon's workload so large that it needs to be spread over all 24 hours of the day, and means that the excessive number of orders has to be disposed of, even during holidays, thanks to the Amazon Logistics service, which delivers every day, from 8 am until 9 pm.
