📄 Documents and customs for shipping at Qatar
Qatar is outside the EU: all consignments must pass through the General Authority of Customs. Required documents:
- commercial invoice or proforma
- detailed description of the goods (NO “gift”)
- free export declaration
- EORI for corporate shipments
- sender's identity document (required by some couriers)
Duties and taxes
Qatar applies the GCC common customs tariff of 5% to most imports. Qatar does NOT currently levy VAT — it is one of the few Gulf countries without value-added tax, alongside Kuwait. This makes Qatar one of the Gulf destinations with the lowest customs costs of all. The de minimis threshold for personal use is around 3,000 QAR (approximately €750).
